Thats amazing! Great concept :hump:

Do you watch water boil too?
Not cool man, this was a nice post:-P

I grow in clear cups w/holes in bottom for water drains. I cut the bottom out of the color cup and use as a sleeve.

You can watch roots without light harming them.

You can use diff colors (I use red and blue) to help keep track of the plants.
That's pretty cool bro. Thanks for the tip  +rep

No, then you could not see thru them. That what the color sleeve cups do.
roots grow better in the dark, why would you want to expose them to any light? that doesnt make sense if the color sleeve is supposed to be protecting them from light, it should be painted black, red doesnt really help

You put the color cup over the clear. Then no light to the roots. Then if you want to look at the roots just slide off the outer cup.

There are lots of reasons to want to see the roots this makes it possible and still keep them in the dark.

It's a clear pot in a nonclear pot as a cover.

what do you want to see the roots for anyway? and im prety sure light goes though the red cup which was why i suggested painting it black first.. you should just paint the clear cup black... no need to see the roots

Some people like to see them

look for problems like when to transplant. you can use any outer color you want. yes some light will go thru any color but not as good as clear.

but the point is if you want to watch the roots for any reason do this trick. if you want paint the outer cup any color.

if you want to stop light first paint silver then black.

just to add a little to this post... for easier transplanting... i pick up a bag of gravel from home depot for 4 bucks... on the bottom of every pot or cup i put in a layer an inch or so deep... the roots do not grow into the gravel that much... and when transplanting the rooted soil slides easily out...
