My plant was dropping leaves...

...and it had small buds on it (first grow), so I harvested it. It has since
quit dropping leaves. Just prior to harvesting, I planted it in a larger
planter with potting soil.

Did I do the right thing?

It wasn't bad smoke for home grown.

homegrown is the best smoke you can get, s'long as u grow it right!

leaves naturally die off near the end of flowering. I NEVER transplant a flowering plant. puts it in shock, and it has to concentrate on it's root system instead of big ass flowers. transplanting may have contributed to your lower yield.

the proper time to harvest is difficult to judge. when you decide to chop your plants affects the type of high you receive when smoking. Get at least a 30x magnifier. then u can actually see the trichomes, and determine proper harvest time more accurately.
