Hey guys my grow room is way to dry. Is it ok to put a humidifier in there? Any suggestions would help. I'm growing in a closet with a 400 watt hps, ventilation is great, temp is around 82 its just really dry in there.
You can get a 5 gallon bucket full of water and add two airstones on a Walmart Aquarium Dual Airpump to increase Humidity. You can hang wet dripping towels fromt he ceiling. You can MIST often during VEG, remember to raise the lights. You can get a cheap Walmart Humidifier: Cheap Cool Mist Humidifiers from Walmart:
In my opinion it is better to have it dry than humid. I actually keep my grow room at 35-40% humidity during flowering and 50-55% during vegetative state. I have a dehumidifier because my room is in a basement that get's rain leaks and makes it really moist.
The good thing for you is that it is a lot cheaper to add humidity than to take it away
Thanks for the help guys!!! I went and bought a humidifier from the local thrift store for 3$ and it seems to be working. I'm in the veg state and its around 50% I thought you wanted the grow room to be humid(75%) am I wrong???
DEAD wrong. Anything over 70 % and the plant's cannot transpire the moisture out that they drew up their roots. That's how they get all their mineral nutrients, from the roots.
There was a chart posted which unfortunately I never downloaded to show the effects of too high a humidity.
Its really all about the pressure exerted on the plants. To high humidity over 70% and your plants wont transpire and they die. to low humidity under 20% will let them transpire to much, at that point they start canoeing to stop transpiration, also will hurt alot.
