My Grow Journal

So I thought it was about time to start a grow journal and share all my results and information with the people from whom I have gained so my knowledge from so here goes.

I started in mid febuary 2010 and have harvested two crops and am currently harvesting my third now. my setup changed quite a bit after the first crop (as i had no idea what I was doing) so i will describe the initial set and then the changes

The space is about 1.5m x 2m with a very low ceiling height of 1.2m I started off with a 400w HPS light with no ventilation ( you can imagine the heat problems i had)

I grew 2 strains DNA's lemon skunk and Pukka skunk 3 seeds of each one. One of the pukka's didn't germinate so i was left with 5 plants which were eventually planted in 6.5l deep square pots. I was using bio bizz soil with their nutrients as well but in my general state of not knowing didn't fertilize them that much.

***ROOKIE ERROR ALERT***

Funnily enough the plants grew really tall and right into the light ahhhh! started LST by tying them down by string which helped a bit but too little too late. I veg'd these plants for 34 days and the pukka flowered for 49 days and the lemon for 69 days
The pukka finished really quick but gave few loose buds that you could practically see through nice daytime smoke but not fantastic the plants gave 9gr and 15gr. The lemon did slightly better the buds were still not very dense but a lot nicer than the pukka. They had a lot more space once the pukka was gone. Nice stuff though smelled lovely and nice high . They yielded 23 , 24 and 11gr. I was trimming when wet and cutting buds off stem and drying in a shoe box then once dry putting them in jars and leaving jars open for six hours a day (due to misinformation). Buds were far to dry and in worse cases made a really harsh smoke.

so that was my first boched grow set up I learn't an awful lot and started planning my new set up . Will post next set up soon

So after my first grow i realized the problem with the setup mainly heat and lack of air so I went about design the new and improved system which is the one I am currently using.
I constructed a fake wall for the original room and added a veg room to the side of it with a 125w cfl light in it 1.5x1x0.8m . In the flowering room installed and extraction fan with a carbon filter and an air cooled light with the hot air going out a window and an intake fan going from the veg to the flowering room. This made this a lot happier growroom and the plants are thriving in it.
Hopefully i have described the setup enough if you have any question just let me know.

Now onto the fun stuff. Because it was such a low ceiling i decided to scrog them to keep the height down I constructed individual frames out of chicken wire. I had to make each plant a frame as i would have to move them from veg to flowering.
In this crop I was growing 3 G13 Haze and 3 Pukka's . I think i left them in veg a bit too long as they got quite a bit of height on them but for the most part i was rewarded with buds all along the stems. One of the G13's stretched a lot we named him MR Tallie
then i think he got fert shock and stopped developing as quickly as the others I kept him in but we took 99 days to be ready compared to the other two which took 72 . The buds weren't as dense as the other but the same sort of yield.

The pukka's were a lot better than before looked like proper bud they responded well to fertilizer and were finished between 58 - 68 days from 12/12 switch.

The pukkas smoke was a lot better this time round as i cured it properly still not really strong but nice day weed

The G13 on the other hand was really good not as good as in dam but on the right track really strong you can feel it in your face from the first toke very exciting.

so they all veg'd for 54 days the pukka finishing between 58 - 68 days and the g13 in 72 apart from my tallie. They all rough made an ounce each per plant and below are pictures of the pukka plant just before harvest and a table times and amounts

The scrog worked really well for these plants keeping the height down and maximising light. One of the pukka's i had 14 buds sites 4 more than the others and yielded the same amount as others so i guess you dont need to many bud sites have settled on creating 8 - 10 and seems to be working well. less can mean more in some cases.

The next crop i decided to do a test crop to see what strains i would like to settle with the strains i choose are Trainwreck , K-train , Cole Train , Big Bang , Pineapple chunk and sharksbreath. Will post soon
