I didn't know were to put this so I ended up here in "General", please move if you know where it would be better placed.
It's been a while since I've grown anything so I haven't been around here for a while either. But now I've started this new project I wanted to share with you guys. (I'll get pics too when I get some more stuff together).
What I'm doing is making a mini ecosystem inside a small aquarium I had lying around, and I'm gonna try to grow a bonsai weed tree. One side will be water and the other land were the tree grows, the water level will be about 15cm and i'm turning the pump into a small waterfall. If I can find something to live in there like a few small frogs and get a fruit fly colony going, just add water and light
I'm gonna use two CFL 23W for the light and two computer fans to simulate wind. I put in a water pump from a small aquarium to get circulation in the water. the land part I've barricaded up with stones and filled inn with sand to a little above water level. Only I set a pot down in the sand that's the same height and filled it a little over half full with those little round brown stones that float (don't know the english word). on top of that I put a larger pot that I will grow the plant inn. Then I put a soil and sand mix all around to cover the pot, when the weed plant starts getting strong I'll plant grass/moss to give it the final touch.
The lights I ordered should be here in a few days, I'll keep you guys updated and get pics later. Feel free to comment and/or give me advice and stuff but this is a "just for fun" project though so I don't expect to get awesome weed or anything. It might look cool though
