my bud has been curing now for about 3 weeks or more. When i open the jar and shake the bud around the buds smell thousty. Like an old attic no hay smell just this thousty smell. Will this smell go if i continue to let the buds cure? they smelt really dank when i put them in the jar there is no sign of mold or any thing thanks for the advice.

I typed up 3 different responses, one mean, one helpful and one kind of indifferent but comedic....I think I'll just go with. What is thosty?

What strain is it? How wet were the buds when you jarred them? Do you see any signs of mold? How wet / dry are the buds now to the touch..

the buds are all dry and crispy but if i squeeze the bud it smells really dank here is a image of the buds IMG_0634.jpg the white stuff you can see is not mold its trics they was dry to touch when i put them in the jar after burping for about 4 weeks in one of those metal clip jars and then put them in to a bigger jar to let cure. Oh yeah it's some unknown kush strain and i just checked all the buds with my microscope and no signs of mold just little shiny diamonds lol

I have become very anti burp over the past few years...... if they need to be burped that often they are too wet. they should be dried so that aftr they been in the jar for 24 hrs you check on them and they are still dry not crispy but dry enough to be left closed up in the jar and checked in a week if sill dry just let them be. drying and curing are completely difrnt things most people jar them too wet. once jarred they shuld be able to be left alone. curing happens in closed jars drying happens in open air. no offence ment but I wouldn't pay a midget pimp 5 bucks for whats in that picture.... we need to get you learned up bro. something went wrong way before curing. what is it how did you grow it how long did it flower what lights were it under, what were they fed tell everything start to finish

they was grown in sunlight fed on GH one part total bloom. watered with plan PH water every 3rd watering. harvested when trics was milky clear with about 10% amber i think then wet trimmed. hung for 7-8 days stem did not snap still had a tiny bit of moisture in the stem put in to a jar the ones with metal clip opened jar every day for about every half hour to an hour a day for about a week then every 2 hours a day and so on a so on gradually shorter time the jar was open untill buds where dry enough to put in the jar to cure. where did i go wrong ?

not sure, could have been too wet to jar up. I have done it and the buds get don't get moldy but they start to sell funny and turn a little brown. my best have been when they were dried to the point that when jared they didn't need to be opened to dry out more. If after 24 hrs in a jar they feel wet again I would dump them out for another day or 2 so they can dry further. I want mine to be dry to the point of not needing to be opened every day. like I said if after 24 hrs jarred they feel right not too wet, I close it for a week then chk it, if still ok Ileve it alone for a week to a month longer until it is needed. in storage opening once a month

I think it's the chlorophyl breaking down. I cure for a month and then transfer everything into new jars at the end of the cure and the buds smell kind after the transfer. When I first open up the jars after the cure I notice a musty smell so I assume it's the byproduct of the curing process since after the transfer things smell and stay kind smelling. Try that.
