hello am new at posting here but have been reading since long time, i got my hand on an aerogarden and tried to start using marijuana for it, but havnt been succesfull at it since i cant get some decent lights around where i live i adapted a 500w house reflector dont know if its the right light, with its own timer 18/6, i am using fox fam grow big, hydro organic nutrients and another local organic nutrient. i also lost the sponges that comes with the aerogarden, and they are right know with toilet paper. i ahve to get some hydroton but cant find anything close in town. one question i have is why does the bottom looks thin. well here are some pics any advice would be great thank you

There are no pictures. Ok so first off you should not be using any nutes until after the 2nd set of true leaves show. I wouldn't recommend nutes until after 2 weeks of growth. The plants should already have sprouts before you put them in the s or you can use a regular orange sponge they use to wash cars to germinate them in. Just cut the netting off it and then cut it into cubes. You also haven't mentioned if you are mantaining a proper ph level. If plants aren't sprouting you could be killing them by putting nutes to early. Everything the seedling needs is within the seed. They will sprout just give them time. I would recommend reading a bit more. More info about your setup and other issues in specific would help in answering your questions.

your plants are stretching if i was you i would move the light a bit closer to the plants thats something i should have done but didnt so if you bring down the light close plants will stay at a constant level and short

sorry forgot the pics, already upload them, thank you for the reply. i will change the water now to plain tap water, need to get a ph meter. the only type i cant think of are the ones or the pools. also is aluminium papeer reflective enough? cant find a place to get mylar paper.am about to do the cutting for the roots. i think i will start over again. as you can see am on limited resources hehe

Aluminum will work, but it creates more heat than mylar, so make sure you have plenty of fans/ventilation

a pool-designed PH meter will work just fine. After all, water is water!

As for starting over, no need...looks like you got 3 unused aero-pods, just fill em up and keep the current ones as well. Nothing wrong with having a few extra seedlings!

As for lights, anything that makes Fluorescent light will work. 500 Watts is a LOT, as long as its fluorescent and not incandescent(incand. = regular light bulb light, does nothing)

Finally, don't use plain tap water - use distilled or filtered. If all you can get is tap, just let it sit out for a day or so, so some of the junk in it can leave into the air.

well after reading all of the posts and i got to say thank you for the responses, we decides to start over just a little and move everything to a closet in front, and i can put the light a little bit further down, and put the new sponges for the seeds, btw the lights i am using as i said are the 500W i put a sunbeam extractor and i ope that is enough for the heat, and more recommendations would be great thank you here are the results, ill keep you guys with info.
