my 250-400 galaxy ballast grow at last

ive finally got this kicked off so i figured i would start a new thread i had to get some new babies from a mother i had gifted a friend im so far really happy with the galaxy ballast & plan on possibly kicking it up to 400w sometime in flower instead of adding supplimental lighting i have a cheapie [htg-supply] red spectrum bulb to finish things off & a blue enhanced one im vegging with the clones i got were not in prime shape but theyre coming around i put them under the 250 on feb 19 ill probably veg for 3 weeks & im kind of putting my room back together after shutting down the 600w. hps my room is 4x3 & 8 ft tall im using a tub i made out of a tote commonly used to slide under a bed it measures 34x18 in ill be replacing it with a 2x2 e&f tub i have 5 plants in 2 gal. smart pots 1 plant i started from seed will be cloned when its big enough & then removed ill be training them as i go & havent ruled out a scrog im waiting for a little more new growth before i prune off the damaged stuff im using 60/40 blend of coco-perlite & gh 3-part nutes keep it simple schedule & adding cal-mag the strain is r/p skywalker when done this will be my second completed grow of it & the first time growing it in coco

thanks vostok i visit other growing sites from time to time but i consider this site home i kinda miss the like button too i guess theyll get it back & working right but nothing changes the fact that for the most part weve got a good bunch of growers that have helped me through some not so ideal grows & some pretty good ones as well i havent figured out the rep button yet im not the sharpest with a computer i had to get one of the kids to teach me how to post pics my first year here i posted no pics of my grows everything i know of indoor growing i learned right here & owe many thanks to a lot of good people

View attachment 3006871plants are starting to come around the 1&3 fingered leaves that seem out of place are normal for this strain the small plants in the center pot are gonna be cloned for future grows 1 is a cali-connection blackwater & the other 2 are skywalkers from a plant that seeded itself 1 is short the other is taller a short pheno of this would be nice today im gonna prune off the damaged growth as this is starting to resemble a grow

changed things around a bit as im rained out of work today also hooked up my res to flood automaticly daily as ive been hand feeding im starting to feel like im growing something upped the nutes a notch to the regular growth schedule as well im gonna hold off a few more days before i prune off any growth

got the screen fitted 12'' above the pots hopefully theyll fill in the the gap in the next few weeks temps are 60-65o.f a little cooler than i like but will work spring [here in cen-cal] is right around the corner so it'll warm up soon enough this is the most boring part of the grow as it seems to take forever for this stuff to wake up & fill in enough to get some clone stock this isnt the prettiest stuff to grow but the finished product more than makes up for it the quality is top-shelf lots of rock hard nugs that reek of x-mas tree/fuel type funk with a hint of skunkinessa few pics from my last grow of the skywalker

looking a little better this morning i did end up removing a few damaged leaves yesterday it seems theyre liking the increase in nutes & greening up a bit i cant wait to get my 2x2 tub but for this grow the tote seems to be working & im getting happier by the day

View attachment 3008519going back over some of my other grows i realize i put these clones under the light pretty small usualy my clones look like this when i start out but that being said im lucky my friend had the babies i have just makes for a slow start

ive got 1 plant that so far refuses to put out anything but 1 fingered leaves on any of the new growth but im getting new growth & greening daily i usually veg about 3 weeks but im gonna increase veg time to about a month the cali connection blackwater is still straggling behind the others by the time they reach the screen ill have only the 4 larger plants & ill change the arrangement slightly before i start training through the screen

I see mold/fugus in ur future

i get some algae every grow on top especialy on the rockwool so far it hasnt gave me any p/m issues i am gonna fire up my oscillating fan to get air moving around thanks for stopping by i appreciate the heads up

change is slow this early in the grow but im noticing new growth & about a 3/4'' drop in my res. i turned on my oscillating fan so it runs whenever the light is on temps hover around 60 degrees [light off] to about 64 when the light is on with the fan running i like the slight rustle in the leaves the fan provides

the weather continues to be rainy/overcast & im home again today one plant is lagging slightly behind the others today is 12 days since i put them in my room so a 1 month veg time is likely my little blackwater is showing new growth so there is a good chance next grow will be blackwater/skywalker im still debating on that one today im gonna topp-off & ph. my res. in 2 weeks my goal is to have my plants large enough to start training my branches through the screen if not ill have to lower the screen to the plants & im hoping the weather warms up i like my room to be 70-80 degrees not 60-64 degrees im trying not to run the electric heater but if the temps dip into the 50's ill be forced to

View attachment 3012518View attachment 3012519did a little supercropping tonight to spread my growth out a bit before they reach the screen but my camera batterys died ill post pics of my work tomorrow but i am gonna post an old pic of when i put them in the room & this mornings pic to do a little comparrison of their progress the pic on the left is about 12 days old the 2 on the right are todays

another round of training today i was gonna lower the screen but this is a stretchy strain so i think leave it as is & train as i go along my color continues to improve as the cal-mag starts working my blackwater baby is starting to come around so in a few weeks ill be able to take babies from it

ive got 2 more days & im gonna change out my reservoir & give them some fresh nutes ive got roots coming out the sides of my smart pots so all in all im getting happier with the way things are shaping up after a less than ideal start im seeing progress i was having second thoughts about my choice of downsizing to this set-up from my 600w.3x3 but my doubts are starting to fade as im starting to figure this out i do however want a true factory made 2x2 tub & i still have the option of switching out my bulb & turning the ballast up to 400w. im also happy with the deal i got on the ballast as well

will be back with pics tonight or tomorrow as my work has picked up but theyve made it up to the screen & im happy about the progress

Looks similar to my skywalker from a previous run of mine. Its a little lanky for my taste. But she did produce some good hash making nugs. Think I'll stick around and see what these do.
