just purchased a floralux 150w HPS, i plugged it in (first off there is no on and off switch) and all seemed good for the first minute or two, but it seems to be shutting off then coming back on. however when it shuts off, it doesnt shut off completely, it still shows a small amount of light, then it lights up fully within the minute and so on.
has anyone experienced this problem before?
might have screwed up in buying the floralux...

You don't have your fingerprints all over your bulb do you? You're not suppose to touch your bulb then try turning it on, that's my only though.

thanks for the input amigos. Just sent out an email to HTGsupply. They're sending a replacement lamp, but I told them it was most likely the ballast...
I knew I should have just bought the sun system instead :(

Bad ballast brother. I had the same exact problem with the same exact light from HTG. I told them it was the ballast and they said they would send me a replacement. 2-3 days later, I received a replacement lamp and I knew it wasn't going to fix the problem. I called them immediately and told them the ballast was the problem. They then sent me a new light with 2 new lamps and it worked this time around. Not too sure about the quality of HTG. But they did fix everything and I didn't have to pay for shipping the defective ballast back. Good luck.

thats relieving, yeah i emailed them and told them it was the ballast after they had said they were sending me another lamp, if i dont get a response by tomorrow i will call them. they're usually pretty good at customer service tho
also, is that particular light a good one? would you say its enough for a plant or 2? I will be growing in the mother keeper tent which is 4ft tall, 4ft wide, and about 20" in depth
thanks

Yeah their customer service is good, but I would rather not have to deal with them if you know what I mean.

With a 150w HPS, your best bet is to low stress train in combination with topping or fiming. Or you can scrog or sog. I've also seen people grow 12/12 from seed or clone. Your yield will suffer severly if you try to grow plants normally as you would with a 400w or higher. For the light to be effective, I would say keep your plants 2.5ft or less if you decide to let them grow naturally.

it sounds like a ballast problem
but touching the bulb is never a good thing
the finger prints will cause the bulb to crack when it heats up
never touch the bulb and always wipe it down
