Movin' on up...

Hey all! Its been a while but its almost that time again...moving to a bigger space with a lot more privacy and im movin to my first HPS grow

My previous grow was all CFL's, and was more of a learning experience. This time im going for some actual yeild (1/4 - 1/2 lb) and plan on perpetual



I ordered a Hydrofarm Mini Sunburst 150w HPS ballast enclosure and lamp



as well as this 240 cfm hydroponic booster fan, 6" inline....with ducts



Plan on doing it in a cabinet about 2' wide, and 5' tall similar to this but made of wood....



I am curious as to what some of you think is the best way to go about rigging this up and WHERE TO GET SEEDS?...

I've had amazing luck with Sea of Seeds. Their stealth shipping is no joke and I literally panicked for a split few seconds before I realized exactly where the seeds were.

For the cabinet, you could have the lights in a fixed position and have a shelf that can be lowered as the plant grows (to keep optimal distance between the light and the plant) while keeping the electric work and outlets on a "top shelf." That or you could have a pulley system that adjusts the height of the lamp as the plant grows.

YES! just picked up the pulley system actually haha, and thats good to know on Sea of Seeds, im in a medical marijuana state but still want to make sure all is discreet.
Ive read all of the disclaimers on the HPS bulbs and it seems pretty straight forward, but as an stoner, I am paranoid it will burn the house down
I will be using all Fox Farm products as well as Ocean Forest, and maybe flora micro for micro nutes, but im still not quite sure.

Now since I am thinking perpetual, should I Flower in this cabinet or use it for my mother? Should I SCROG?

It depends on what you want to do. I plan on using my cab to veg and flower. If I'm feeling up to it, I may end up getting a smaller cab for vegging clones (to transfer to the main cab once flowering is over).

It's up to you, but it sounds like you have it figured out.

My advice on seeds is try Single Seed Centre. Nothing but awesomeness out of them. I think they operate out of the UK.

I bought from attitude and was happy. Whenever I purchase more ill go through them again

Not trying to Hate on SOS, I agree there shipping was super shealthy, however out of the 12 seeds only 5 have grown, 1 turned out to be a male and it was spose to be female (3 months wasted and bucks on electric bill). I do have the last 4 seeds growing now. I spent $60 bucks on seeds I expected more. I guess I will just have to see how these last 4 turn out. Cab plans look good I don't know if 150w is gonna get you to 1/2 lb but I am no expert on watt vs yeild. I have read before 1000w per pound so it would stand to reason you need a 500w to yeild half pound. I have a 150 W HPS in my cab and it gets hot in there like 90's hot unless I keep the cab door open a blow a fan inside. So I veg em with the CFL's and flower with the HPS, It cuts down on the elec bill as well. Good luck with your grow!

Yes, I am hoping that the 240 cfm duct fan on outake will suffice for the heat the lamp is gonna produce

Okay so I have started construction, here we are so far. plan on finishing it today with light baffling, reflective surfacing and air intake
