Grow environment:
Oopen basement.
Lights: one 1,000w MH, dimmed to 400-600, one CMH light, 1 rack with Fluence RazrX and a 4-bulb T5.
Veg and propogation only, no flower (currently).
Humidity controller helps a bit but the dehumidifier and humidifiers are small and the space isn't sealed. Humidity ranges 50-66%.
Temperature controller hooked up to exhaust fan only. Temp ranges 73-81°
Problem:
See attached leaf photo (below). This is from my mother plants. Every day more and more leaves look like this and eventually shrivel and fall. Lately, however, even more health looking leaves are just dropping off.
They were all smaller plants and in 3 gallon fabric pots, Pro-Mix. They've been ok health, but this started happening a couple months ago. I was using general hydroponics micro and bloom + kelp + enzymes, supplementing a bit of grow formula as needed but generally keeping nutrients balanced for mother plant maintenance, slow growth. I'm taking cuts every 2 weeks (10-20 cuts).
I flushed plants until runoff PPM was around 400. Runoff pH was in range. I switched to Hydrodynamics Mother Plant A&B formula. The plants looked ok for a couple weeks, but still had some leaf issues.
I got rid of a couple mother plants and uppotted the remaining ones to 5 gallon fabric containers with Detroit Nutrient Company soil (and some Coco Loco). I've just watered twice since transplant last week and the leaves are still dropping like crazy.
When healthy, green leaves are falling off. I'm planning on using half strength nutrient the next time I water, but I'm not hopeful. My new growth looks fine and I'll get decent clones, but I'm not hopeful past that.
I switched from pro-mix to a Nutrient rich soil to try and add some diversity and hopefully remove some human error from the equation... Maybe too little too late?
... Ideally, all my plants would just be in an organic soil and I could top dress as needed, but I obviously don't have the nutrients or plant knowledge for that yet. I've run plants all the way through flower like this with minimal issues, but keeping mothers long term required a bit more finesse...
Anyone out there keep mothers in organics without liquid nutrients?
Anyone out there have a nice maintenance schedule with liquid organics to keep them long term?
