Mother Plant questions

I have a couple questions on the care required to maintain a producing mother plant. First, what kind of lighting (not type, but rather cycle, 24/0, 12/12) do you keep a mother plant under. Second, how many leafs/nodes should you leave on the plant to make sure it lives to make a second set of clones, and lastly, do you re-soil it every once in a while, or do you just throw some nutes in there and if so, what nutes? Thanks in advance.

18/6 light cycle all the time, blood fish and bone for nutes. take it out its pot now and again to give it new soil and let it get a couple of feet before you take sideshoots for clones. nice one

that is a good question.... whats the limit when taking clones? When are you really starting to put the plant in danger?

i try to take as many cuttings as i can. then i pull it out of the pot and rake the roots. then i re-pot with new soil and give a heavy feeding of nitrogen.

this doesn't work. don't do it. hope this helps.

What about continous clones? Is it possible to take clones, then put the mother to flower, use the clones as mothers and continue like that?

You can use a clone as a mother but as you select a mom from each subsequent generation, any anomalies or genetic defects will become more and more pronounced, leading to possible inferior plants.

How long is suggested time to keep a mother? Indefinitely? A year? After "X" amount of cuttings taken?

Whats your theory? Or when do YOU scrap a mom plant?
