I personally run my cxa3070's at 2.5 amps each. I don't see the reason to be running my lights soft. the only advantage being what? life span.. so instead of 7 or 8 years I might get 4 or 5?. woopty do. if i get 5 years out of one chip or driver ill be happy.
besides if you run em a little harder they penetrate that plant more. i think the over all results of the plant are worth running em hard.
the 3 to 5% loss that you get in your power bill is negotiable I think. when you calculate driver, heat sync, and chip cost vs running cost.. especially if power is free or near free ( solar panels/wind)
besides 4 or 5 years from now when my lights die.. it'll probably be cheaper to buy parts when i need them
