So I am a new poster here (been lurking for a bit) I am getting ready for my first grow so this seems to be a logical place to start.

And as I am building, planting, harvesting and eventually smoking I will post pics.

I am going to build a small closet out of lumber I have laying around. I want to keep 3 - 6 momma plants ( 3 diferent strains, yet to be decided) veging for cloning. So my idea is I need a 2 compartment cabinet, (1 upper, 1 lower), that is lrg enough to keep the mothers happy on the lower portion of the cabnet and keep new clippings in 1 of those disposable green house thingies in the small area above main compartment.

So my questions are:

1. how big does the momma compartment need to be? What would you recomend if you were building it?

2. What kind of lighting would be needed (cfl, MH ?) and what wattages.

3. since I will be starting the clones just above the mothers compartment would I need a heating pad? Or will heat the from momma apt suffice?

4. Should I use Co2 in either compartment? Or both?

5. What fan would be needed for exhaust / and intake of air?

6. Anything else I will need?

Why dont you start out by listing what your thinking of getting and then we can advise from there. That way it shows youve done some reseach. Start with a budget for the build.

figure at least a foot and a half for each mother plant, at the min. one foot. but if your going to also use this space to grow out your young girls after cloning youll need more room than that. so you need to figure out how many plants your going to need in that area to supply you continuous harvest.
the lighting , can be a simple mh, but then again you need to find out how many plants your going to be growing, if your on a budget you can use cfl's or you can use florescent prefurably t-5's but any will work for veg. If your growing 1 to 4 plants mothers youll need at least a 400 w mh, cfls youll have to add up the bulbs to get the best light out put for your grow space. with cfl's you need to work more around the plant and not the grow space.
as a newer grower your not going to want to mess with co2 or any advanced grow method. concentrait on the basics ventalation, lighting, water, any problems that might come up and there will be. Most of us want to grow the best potant crop that we can the first time out and some do good at there first attempt but the more you grow the more youll learn.

the ventalation youll also have to figure out how many plants you planning on growing,
on general youll want at least for the ventaltion to empty the room of old air in at least five min's and have a freash air input to pull new air into the room.
we can be for shure if the clone room will need a heating pad untell you get the room built and working and take severl temp readings to determine that.

My best advise is to figur out how many plants that you want to grow from what i gather youd need at least a 6x6 growing area for veg to house up to 6 moms only. your looking at a bigger grow area if your wanting to grow out your clones while in veg. if thats what your looking for than go to the faq area and you can figure out you ventalation and lighting.
