what are the pros and cons of using mollasses? I am using a 10-52-10 currently every other feeding if i were to use mollassess would I just use it by it self or also use the other plant food as well? I am onto my 15 or 16th day of flowering any help or insight on a good watering/feeding schedule would be awesome :bigjoint:

Molasses is supposed to increase yield. A lot of people say that the sugars are what the plant absorbs but plants make sugar not absorb it. It has a lot of other benefits in organic gardening. Check this thread out:

Use blackstrap or unsulphured. Warm up a glass of water in the microwave. Add your molasses and stir. Then dump it in your water and mix it in. ;-)

dude i love molasses, i actually use 2tbs per gallon and not only is it possible to add about 20% in the size of your buds in the end but it also makes for a sweeter tasting smoke if you use it enough through flowering. I use it every watering with my nutes and/or without. Now you might want to be safe and just use 1tbs b/c its said that you can have nitrogen problems with molasses if used to much but i haven't seen any. Also ants are a big problem with molasses in the fact that if one gets a wiff of it or tastes any in your soile you will have a shit ton with in 12hrs. Also sometimes people try dripping a little molasses on some of there buds..... don't do it, iv've tried diffrent ways and iv've never seen anything from it..... except that molasses in pure form is easier to get picked up my a exploring ant or any other bug and then you'll have a nasty bug situation on your buds. Some people will also say to mix molasses in soda water but i don't see the point in that either. All you really should do is put some in a gallon jug, add a little bit of hot water, swish it around and then once it dissolved add the reast of the cold water to cool it down BEFORE you pour it into your plant...... Hope this helps man ive been studying the effects of molasses on cannabis plants for about 2 months now so its good to be able to spill it all out to some one new! Good luck on your grow man and have fun!

Plants cannot absorb the sugars from the molasses like you all think. They must make their own, besides their roots aren't made to collect sucrose and glucose.

The sugars are actually consumes by organisms in the soil that produce wastes that your plants use to produce foliage and fruits.

Just thought I'd clear that up for you guys.

FANTASTIC thread! I've been wondering this, and the OP asked my EXACT question to the T! I am still wondering tho, because I did not see it in any of the post's...

***Do you use molassess WITH the regular NUTE feeding??? Or do you have to tone it down??? EX: half strength NUTES with 1 TBSP molassess per gallon???***

IMO the main benefit of using molasses is that it lowers the PH of your water, adds minor nutes and does not interfere with other nutes

Since I am an advocate of continuous flush watering and have proven that water closer to the PH of rain (5.6) causes the plants to work harder
(transpire faster) I use molasses to adjust my PH :bigjoint:

yah i think im a go pick me up some nollasees tomrow!!! and start it with my watering/feeding , im currently using a big rubbermaid container and the top couple iinchs gets dry but i cut a small hole near the bottom of my contianer to stick a finger into and it still seems very moist so maybe im watering to much and should wait few extra days, maybe water less and more frequently or alot at once and let it get bone dry for a week or so i dunno

Yep I know that plant produce glucose and if they have a plentiful supply of glucose they can then turn there energy to making bigger and better buds, This is my first grow (in dwc) and I'm two weeks in to flower and tomorrow I going to get some black strap molasses, Ive done enough research and am convinced that it will work..

Mollassas feeds the microbes in the soil, not the plant. All I know is it attracts ants...and deer.I don't use it anymore and still get very good yeilds.
