I have never heard of mollasses used in this way, i use bone meal to plump up my buds with the boost of P in my third and fourth week of flowering, if you get favorable results please post. I'm subbing this thread.

Most bulk stores carry exactly what you need.. Go with black-strap if the choice is between that and fancy molasses.. I get it for less than a dollar/kg (I ferment with it).. But in that format, you could get a crop's worth for a 5cent investment.. Other things you might want to consider at the bulk-store are malt extract, yeast extract, dextrose, and wheat germ.. All of these really kick up a fermentation, and thats very similar microbial action to what goes down in soil..
And then there are actual yeast nutrient concoctions at the brew stores.. They REALLY kick up a fermentation..

The fermentation confuses me? Are you using the molases as a suplement in soil or are you using it as fuel for some type of diy co2 generator? I have accidentally fermented molases by accident before but once i detected it fermenting i pitched it as i didn't want to add the alcohol to my soil for fear of killing al my benificial beastiez & fungi.:-?

I've been using molasses for the past like 5 weeks of flowering... I was also using a worm brew with a few other things as a nute sub... but finally just went and got some 10-15-10 and fed it that this morning...the buds are pretty dam thick.... and I'm hopin for some more growth in these next few weeks.... I'd have to say that the molasses had atlest something to do with it.

Fermentation only evolves alcohol because its done in an anaerobic environment.. If there is sufficient O2 then yeast won't really touch sucrose, just eat the more co,plex carbs..
Now molasses addition to the soil more directly feeds the beneficial organisms than it does the plant itself.. In fermentation, and soil you want microbes to thrive, and alot of microbes have similar tastes..
