So I've been hearing alot about the good things molasses can do for bud..and sugar too. Does anyone know anything about using sugar (particularly brown sugar) instead of molasses? Or should I just stick to molasses..Any tips/experience/info post it here!!

its sucrose in general that helps. sucanat was popular back in the day before there were all these bloom boosters on the market. i would recommend using organic blackstrap molasses with every feeding during the latter half of flowering.

Put the sugar in boiling water till it dissapates wait till it cools then add to the rest of the nutes. A word of warning this is not a good idea in summer every little critter that flys comes to the grow room for a drink.make sure you ph after adding the sugar this can alter the ph.also only use in the last 4/5 week of floering i use about 50 ml of sugar to 1 ltr of water.

ok cool. good tips. does normal sugar/brown sugar work just as well as molasses though or is molasses king?

Molasses is a lot easier to dissolve and it just feels more substantial in general. You'll notice the difference once you mix it up in a gallon jug!

ya bananas right, just pour molasses in the day before mix, it will dissolve on its own. I would stick to molasses, its cheap enough, just obviously dont use white sugar, the RAW sugar in the other thread is the best refined sugar, but molasses is best. At hydro stores they sell a product called sweet, for $30 and its pretty much just sugar. Some nutes are derived from molasses as well.

how much molasses do you add to 1 gal of H2O?

I use it throughout, not every feed in veg, but most of them.

Doesnt matter how much, teaspoon roughly. I mix those 5 gallon jugs you buy at the store, I dont measure, I just pour it in, roughly a tblspn or 2 / 5 gallons.

1 gallon = 1 teaspoon

I used 1TBsp / gal which ended out to be 10 tbsp in a DWC and would strongly recommend to stay away if you yourself are in DWC (Killed one plant made the other gorgeous). Best bet is to just use a little at first for two to 4 days then if it likes it bump it up. I was also told your std table sugar will give the plant the carb it gets from the molasses. I think a major ploblem of molasses is that it shoots all your other nutes out of proportion as most molasses is high in Ca. and N If I remember it right so watch the EC if you do decide to use it.

Too much can cause a fermented stink and root damage. It seems sugar water is more difficult to get right. A little goes a long way.

Hey man I hate to be a party pooper, but, I used molases on my last crop and I didnt notice any difference at all. I used it in the late stages of flowering and flushing also. 2 TBSP per gallon.
I have found that great taste comes from proper curring. Just in my experience.
Good Luck everybody

sure there is...take clones from 1 plant @ 6 ..grow 2 with molas..2 with brown s ...2 with nothing ..flower ..see if there's any difference or not ..take notes ..easy science project..:peace:
