Looks like the stray seed from the fall season is finished:

New project for 2021

Removed the 40 year old fiberglass Jacuzzi. Now it is time to see what is under the cement covering this area of the pool:

Used my DeWalt hammer drill to drill 1 inch holes in a squarish formation and hit the square with a sledge hammer.

Voila:

It is wet in there!

When my drill went through the cement on a fairly aggressive attack I was happy to see sand on the drill bit. I drilled the remaining holes until they also pierced the cement. Then a couple well placed whacks of the sledge hammer and the contents were revealed!

Did this first round of work on a Saturday afternoon. Sunday morning I debated renting a jack hammer from Home Depot to remove the remaining cement. I almost didn't do it. But the weather was perfect and it was very windy so the dust wasn't going to be an issue. After a little learning curve and getting the bit stuck a few times, I started chewing up concrete!

Mrs Mo help clear away the pieces as I hammered and rested, hammered and rested...

When I finally cracked that last piece along the edge, I felt it move 1/4 inch under my foot. I was a little scared I was going in the pool with that electric jack hammer. Scared Mrs. Mo pretty badly. I put the piece of wood in there to stand on for the remaining cuts.

No dead body yet!

Mo

I has rained here on and off for the last two weekends so not much progress. This weekend I hope to have it cleared out.

Not sure why anybody would have covered it.

No dead body yet.

I am told it is what they called a wading pool. I think they covered it because it was too difficult to maintain? I could always make it a DWC (sic).
I am starting the jack-hammering today to remove the deck above the plumbing. I also picked up a tile removal bit for my hammer drill.

I have been watching these fine folks work on their pool:

Yeah it's just a ledge to sit on. The wall across between the pool and that was added when it was filled in. My in-laws have that on theirs. Who knows maybe someone kept falling in it walking around at night lol
