Misting when lights ON?

HAHAHAH, i've just had some amature preach to me about how to mist with the lights on... then he called ME and idiot, or as good as...

Lets hear from EVERYONE about how they mist?

Basically, this is the question, i'd just like the answers... who's dumb enough to mist with the lights ON?

the only time is mist is for my rooting clones and that is just water.
the plants can get everything they need through the roots. if they cant then thats when you need to mist the plant until you solve the problem with whats locking out the nutes.

i have and have had ongoing bug issues in my location for several years. i spray my plants with the lights on with no ill effect whatsoever. the real truth here is there's no exact true way to do anything. the only thing that is wrong is to say you CAN'T do something.... saying such usually gets you proven wrong.

yep- i mist my outdoor plants twice a day-with plain water and then at the end of the day with low solution nutrient mix.Its better to keep the high humidity entire vegge state.
U can mist with no problems with lights on too, but make shure U dont fuck up by misting your lights and shit!!!!

yeah, that IS a big no-no. water burns are more likely to occur in a cfl garden than under hid's.

Weill i user dutch masters gold folier spray and penatrator i mix it with seltzer insted of water i put about one tnth food with it and spray them down until runoff I should turn lights out but dont to mist you must have a good vent system and fan oscilating you feel me I use a 250w in soil maxes my little light more affective

you do what works for you and ahhhh

my shit is working FINE for me

Ok, i probably wrote it wrong...

I've been growing many years and always mist when lights are off [so as not to burn through the leaves]

I only mist seedlings anyway, just as they're sprouting.

But one of the basic rules is dont get the leaves wet when theres light as it'll magnify and burn... At least thats what i do, and never had any probs... almost ALL the people i've spoke to do the same, so as not to risk burning...


It's the risk.... i wouldnt risk it...

I cant beleive so many people do risk it.

i veg under 1kw hps. i soak my plants twice weekly. i don't turn off the light. i don't get burns.

light placement, light placment-if lights are in a good distance, were they should be then misting when light is really no prob.
all depends as KP2 said what lights are U usong-cfls, hps, hid-s -what distance they are on, but also if U want no risks about burns, then it is wise do to it when lights are off as ganjman confirmed.
To me it doesent matter, when U know what U are doing and are comfortable about your methods, U cant fuck up!!!

your kinda high strung over this misting thing arent ya bro?

like somebody said, its whatever works for you. you obviously havent found out about wetting/penatrating agents. products like DM's Penatrator and coco-wet, hell i know guys who add a drop of dishsoap to thier foliar sprays to get better penatration.

i mist my flower room every other day right up untill 2 weeks from harvest with the lights in and never any burn. it takes about 45 seconds and all my spray is absorbed into the leaf leaving no time to burn.

I've never heard of misting during flower... surely thats asking for budrot... well, it is in my mind. And it'd push the humidity up too....

And because i have cooltube - HIDs are only about 10 inch from tops.

I still cant beleive so many people do it, i see no point, unless to get rid of bugs etcetc

if you have a well venalated room with lots of air flow you willhave no molds or meldews.. it the oldrootin ass stagnite air that produces molds and meldews,and when misting inrooms like that your really asking fortrouble... air flow is the key to your entire grow....

i mentioned this before. due to the location bugs are a constant problem. the only way to grow anything is to treat regularly. my 1k is in a tube as well, but not ventilated. about 10'' from the tops of the tallest plants. i soak the plants, they do not burn. the only burning i've ever had was when using florescent lights, keeping them within 2'' of the plants.

Hmmm, well, it's got me thinking... but... i still dont see the need [to take the risk] unless it's to rid bugs...

As the plant doesnt actually need foliar feeding...

And just going by common sense tells me that creating water droplets on leaf matter will just magnify the light and cause burn holes...

Anyway... keep going, keep the replies comming... it's interesting to see how many people actually do this when i've been adamant for as many years as i can remember that this is breaking a major rule in watering any plants...

it can but not as bad as it would if it was a foil feed spray... but i have never had a burn on my leafes from misting plain water

IMO spraying wit the lights off is asking for mold.

and mygirls is right...ventelation is the key. yes, when i mist my humidity goes from 45 to 65. but 3 minutes later its back down to 45.

No, it's not -

1: During the dark cycle its cooler, and mold needs warmth.

2: The fans still run, so humidity stays the same.

3: It's not risking the burns...


And, lets think about NATURE... when does dew form?
