I have started my first grow and am about to put my plants that are currently in jiffy pots into solo cups. Would
Miracle-Gro Garden Soil Vegetables & Herbs soil be a good choice? I already have it laying around. I Also have FFOF but was told that might be too much for my babies right now.

I'm not a big fan of that stuff. I found a lot of garbage in the bag I bought, not to mention it compacts and holds water. I might of just got a bad bag tho.

Problem is a lot of MG stuff has those crappy time released pellets. You can always cut down FFOF with a little coco & perlite or just use regular unfertilized potting soil or a generic starter mix. You can use it at full strength once your youngins are big enough say 3-4 weeks from seed.

I was planning to cut the FFOF with 25% perlite, would this be a better choice for the cups then? The strain is Northern lights. Also I didn't have time to put them into the cups today. I put the seeds in the jiffy pellets a week ago Sunday and tonight when I was watering them I noticed that the roots are starting to come out of the bottom is this ok?

it is normal for root to come out of jiffy pellets but it's clearly time to move them to pots. I use the jiffy starter mix in 1/2 liter pots to start my seeds and after 2 weeks I need to move them to larger pots.I use kellogg patio plus organic potting mix and add 25% perlite to improve drainage and it has worked well for me
