All in all when I had my card, most of the dispensaries I went to were very professional (only went to around 7 all over the rockies). I did go to two, Alternative Medical Solutions (aspen), and Boom Town (crested butte), that I was very disappointed with. a bit about me I'm a college student, started smoking end of senior year of high school/freshman year of college. Found it had a great effect on my anxiety/insomnia and got my med card in 2012. I'll review the dispensaries I went to around the western rockies.
Crested Butte:
Boom Town: when I first got my Med card this was my main choice, bud was decent nothing to write home about. they did have a good selection of edibles and drinks along with bubble hash at reasonable prices (my main reason for going to them). I was never really impressed with their bud tenders, over all I got an unprofessional vibe from them, and they lacked knowledge of what the strains were good for medically. as time went on the quality of their bud plummeted from O.K. to ditch weed, full of seeds and twiggy. they often ran out of Bud and would be out for days.
ACME: First visit here felt a bit shady, but improved after that. Over all a decent shop, well stocked on a few different strains along with concentrates. Bud was decent not the greatest but still worth while. met the owner, who presented a very professional vibe and knowledgable. only down side lacking on the edibles. so a good choice for bud not so much for other products, probably the smallest of the three.
Wellness Center: by far the best dispensary in CB, largest selection of Bud, Concentrates, and Edibles in CB. very clean well lit shop. the staff was very friendly, professional, and knowledgable. I often would spend 30min+ talking with the bud tender about benefits of different strains, growing, MMJ in CO. ect. on the quality of the products by far the best in CB buds were well formed and covered in trichromes, always a decent smoke, prices were fair and worth it. while I was not a member they did by far have the best offerings. over all a great dispensary.
Aspen:
Alternative Medical Solutions: not to much to say had a wide variety of products and bud, professional in look. what nailed the coffin close for me, was the staff. the bud tender looked like he was around my age (early 20's) and looked like he should have been on Jersey shore rather than working in a MMJ dispensary. One of the main reasons I enjoyed having a medical card was the professional atmosphere, the bud tender was very lacking in knowledge and un helpful. long story short went there once and never again.
Silver Peak Apothecary:
very professional staff, always a joy to work with. the Lady (sorry I'm forgetting her name) who is the main bud tender I worked with, was knowledgable and helpful... after my first visit which she was kind of cold but we all have our bad days. over all the have a decent selection of sodas, and a few edibles and concentrates. as far as bud goes defiantly on par with Alternative Medicine in CB. pricing for the bud it on a three tier system (low,mid, top quality). the one thing that really sold me on this dispensary was the deal of the day (25$ 1/8ths, all the way up to 300$ for 2 Oz.) of what ever bud they had most of a few times i walked away with top shelf bud for an unbeatable price. over all a great dispensary.
