Hello everyone. I am having some problems with my 9 day old seedlings that I cannot figure out after reading all the threads/guides about problems and symptoms. I have done a lot of research and cannot find an answer that applies so any input would be greatly appreciated. I am a cancer patient growing for myself and a few others in my support group that cannot afford to purchase the pot. Without it I cannot eat.
Here is the info on my setup:
What type of medium; soil or hydro?
soil, going to 5 gallon hempy once they are established
What brand and type of soil?
Miracle Grow seedling starter mix
What strain?
5 - Serious AK-47 along with 6 various freebies, feminized
How old are the plants?
9 days
What type of lights and how many watts?
4 x 40 watt cool white 4foot shop lights, 2-4 inches above plants
What is your watering frequency and source of water?
when cup feels light and dry 1/2 inch down, water until slight runoff from well water. Quality unknown, but getting tested. Preliminary PH reading of 7 using cheap test. RO filter when funds allow
What, how much and when was it fed?
no fert other than the trace amounts in the MG seedling mix
What are the temps and humidity in the room?
74-77deg, RH 55-65 24/7
What size pots?
18 oz Solo cups
Any bugs? Look real close.
None I can find with magnifying glass
Any other pertinent info?
I grew with success many years ago and have some HPS and MH lights I will be using to maintain 60 watts/sq ft when they are ready. Others are donating vent fans and some other stuff I will need. I know the MG soil wasn't the best choice but I thought it would be fine for the short time they will be in it before the Hempies. I should have added perlite as the soil stays soggier than I would like. Afraid the peat may be making the soil too acidic. Cheap soil meter reads between 6 and 7 after I water. E-Bay PH Pen and PPM Meter on the way that seem to work fine for others. No money for Hanna/Bluelab at the moment.

I have what appears to be necrosis/burning spots on some of the poor young ladies and it is getting worse and affecting the others. I watered 3 of the AKs last night and this morning they were drooping and had some brown spots on them but pictures tell a thousand words so here goes! I will post more pictures if necessary
The seeds were pricey so I really cannot afford to lose them.
Update:
I have always lurked over the years, read hundreds of pages of threads, and was able to learn from others questions when I grew previously.
What should I do regarding the MG mix they are in? I know they are delicate and do not know if they would survive a transplant into a home made mix. I also know less is more right now. I am afraid a flush would drown them as the MG soil is mostly peat and retains tons of water.
I made a trip to walmart and picked up some Poland Spring water, some aquarium ph test strips (the best I can do until my meter arrives), and a Zero water 5 stage pitcher filtration system that came with a TDS meter that looks similar to the one I bought on ebay, just with a shorter range (0-999ppm).
I came home and started testing. I think the TDS meter is surprisingly accurate as the reading it gave of the poland spring water was right in the middle of the range they listed online for the latest water quality report.
These were my PH and TDS results
Well Water- 8.4
, 106
Poland Spring- 6.2, 42
Zero water filtered from my well- <6.2 , 0
50/50% Well/Poland Spring- 6.8, 74
50/50% Zero/Poland Spring- <6.2, 22
I fear I may have a PH issue as I used the well water, ph8.4 to moisten the soil and water up until today. I have only watered once, btw, individually when they seemed to need it.
I need to get more strips and check run off water. I don't trust the soil ph combo cheapo meter I got.
What do you think about watering from now on with the mix of well and poland spring as the ph seems right for soil?
Any suggestions regarding flushing and/or transplanting? I do not want these to die and lose the month it took to get the seeds and grow them to this point or spend another $140 on them.
Sorry for the long winded reply but i'm pretty desperate and I know how things can get bad quick with ph/nute issues and seedlings.
Can't wait to get out of this dirt and into the hempies!
