I'm sure this has been asked before but can't seem to find a thread, I'm currently using GH Flora series gro, micro, and bloom, and have good results, am thinking of trying GH Maxi gro, and bloom, mainly to save money, seems to me that 2.2lbs of each would last longer than a qt each of flora series,I'm hydro and most threads seems to speak only of soil growth, would appreciate your comments and advice.

I'm soil, but long ago went with gallon jugs of Age Old Organics at $50 each for veg and bloom, simply because I understood the economics of it. I'm not gonna stop growing anytime soon, and me and mine go through a lot when it's virtually free. $100 of AOO ferts lasts me two full growing cycles...

I've used maxigro/bloom allot over the years. When it first came out i was using it in aero, worked similar to flora series. Never used more than 1 tsp. per gallon. I've used in dirt, and coco with good results. It is cheaper than buying liquid, especially buying the big tubs. My big problem with it is having to melt it down, before adding it to your rez. In a jug, You have to add hot water and shake the shit outta it to dissolve properly. Some don't think it is a biggie, but it sucks for me. I would recomend trying it out. If you find it to be not worth it, go back to the flora series. Or try floranova grow/bloom, Which is what I currently use.

Thank you for your responce, I did figure it would be a task to desolve the powder, my main concern was that I had such good results with the flora series, was worried I may be making a mistake by switching, however I feel better now, maybe after using up the maxi I will look into trying the floranova. +rep for you my friend.

Due to the nature of the formulation, you are always going to have a little bit of undissolved material when using a dry nutrient. That's just the way it is, no need to go to any complicated procedure to try and dissolve it fully. Maxi series is one of the most economical out there and it works just fine for flood/drain systems. However, I have switched to floranova since it is supposed to give a more "soil-grown" flavor to the finished product.

I wouldn't say shaking it up in a jug is a "complicated procedure".
If only dissolving small amounts, its hella easy. Dissolving enough for a 100 gallon reservoir is where its a pain in the ass. The more you put in a jug, the longer you need to shake the shit out of it. The hotter the water the better. Just a very, very small amount doesn't dissolve. I know a dude who just adds it to his rezy undissolved, he's a lazy mofo. It works, i guess. But because of his lazy style towards everything growing, he always has the shittiest buds. I like to add it, mix it, and walk away knowing its completely dissolved.
I've found that all of GH's base nutes work similar at the same ppm's, even though different NPK's. When FloraDuo came out, we tried it, and guess what? We got identical results to floranova, go figure huh?

Regarding the first point, I agree, but firmly believe that you can dump Maxi series right in the reservoir without any additional procedure other than stirring it around. According to the marketing material, the whole point of FloraDuo is to allow the grower to play around with different A/B nutrient ratios without harming the plants. Kinda sad, but that is what the wholesaler brochure effectively states. The Floranova has a 3-5% organic component and it is also formulated such that there are no separate "A+B" bottles, that is why they sought a patent for it. In my experience, the Floranova naturally suppresses certain reservoir pathogens and that is mainly why I use it.
