Massive dark object 'lurking on edge of solar system hurling comets at Earth'

A massive dark object may be lurking on the edge of our solar system, according to scientists.
Most comets that fly into the inner solar system seem to come from the outer region of the Oort cloud - a region of icy dust and debris left over from the birth of the solar system.

The cloud starts from a point about 93 billion miles from the Sun and stretches for around three light years and contains billions of comets, most of them small and hidden

Now new calculations suggest a large object that is up to four times as big as Jupiter could be responsible for sending them in our direction.

absolutly, whenever I see space fotos, I just love scaling down to how small an actual person is in that picture, and how silly his conflicts appear compared to the amazing wonder that IS.

This image is a 1 billion pixel RVB mosaic of the galactic center region (340 millions pixels in each R,V and B color). It shows the region spanning from Sagittarius (with the Milky Way center and M8/M20 area on the left) to Scorpius (with colorful Antares and Rho Ophiuchus region on the right) and cat paw nebula (red nebula at the bottom). This mosaic was assembled from 52 different sky fields made from 1200 individual images and 200 hours total exposure time, final image size is 24000x14000 pixels. The images were taken with a SBIG STL camera + Takahashi FSQ106Ed f/3.6 telescope and NJP160 mount from the clear skies of ESO Paranal Observatory in Chile. This mosaic is one of the three parts of the ESO Gigagalaxy Zoom project together with this incredible whole sky mosaic image by ESO/S.Brunier and this fantastic ESO mosaic image of the Lagoon nebula region.

That pic is bad ass! Astronomy amazes me with every pic. Cant believe our world is just a fraction of a dust spec to the universe

That would've been good to, or oprah- I was thinking space=star wars, and he was darth vader.- If it said black hole that would've set it up for some good ones,
