Marijuana tolerance, it claims the more you smoke then the more you have to smoke before!

Is this true, or does it go by days or anything?
 
a buddy of mine grew the same strain for like 5 years,,it was bomb,,we called it Mountain Man,,we got just as buzzed from the same amount every day,,the same as the first time we smoked it
