Magnum vs mag plus questions

I am interested in possibly getting the magnum 357 or the mag plus for a new 3x3 flower tent to help with electrical bills. I was thinking more of the plus side for obvious reasons. The thing that sketches me out is the drop shipping from china, I've heard amercian made LEDs are better build and put what they say in it. I heard the Chinese manufactures use cheap LEDs and pass them off as better. Also I was looking at their website and the plus and the original look extactly the same. Don't want to shell out the extra 400 and not get the better one and not know how to tell the difference since they both look the same.

If anyone understands what I am getting at and can help, please do. I am not that knowledgable in LEDs.

Thanks in advance to anyone who helps.

depends on your budget and space ur growing in, a small 2x2 would be a magnum, or a 4x4 one magnum plus or two regular magnums.
never cheap out on ur equipment. buy the best,
and there is a huge diffrence, one is better then the other lol

I dont think theres anything wrong with chinese made. All the phosphors and what not that are in led diodes and fluorescents are mined in china. Wave point. A t5 company is all chinese. Ome of the best t5 stuff you can get.

Anyway. 357 magnum is 180 watts and the magnum plus is 357 watts. If you had 2 180 w magnum
You would get 3 watts more and have 2 single points of light which is better than 1.

357 magnum - $799 x 2 = $1,598. ......... ding dinh ding ding ding (bell going off)

Magnum plus - $1,999.

so two 180 watt 357 magnums is the better choice imo.

The Magnum Plus is only $1199 (only...) not $1999 btw I bought it on sale for $999 Watch for specials!! or even ask for a better price, maybe call and ask when they are going on sale, you might get lucky and it never ever hurts to ask...

I own both and would not go with the 357 magnum again, dont get me wrong, it works well, but the plus model is much much better for flowering IMO. More light, go figure..
I also own a 126x Penetrator Pro, which is the best of the lights I own, I just moved it to replace the 357 magnum in the flowering room and put the 357 Magnum in the veg closet.
Ill know which does better in a few weeks. Magnum Plus vs Penetrator Pro, may have to start a thread on that one...

If I were to do it again, I would buy the Magnum Plus first, or just stick with the Penetrator, like forever said, dont skimp, you wont be disappointed! That being said, the only issue I have had with any of the LEDs I have purchased was with the Magnum 357, after around 90 days of use, the red spectrum lights went out on half of the unit, they sent me out a new power module to replace, and after several phone calls asking which of the 3 I needed to replace, I just ended up fixing it on my own through trial and error. If you can afford the Penetrator, the end user serviceability is much more user friendly, but the Penetrator offers a smaller foot print for the $, but with the new x2 lens, its pretty bright, right up there with the Magnum Plus and uses 1/2 the watts.

As far as Chinese MFG, I wouldn't worry too much about it, just as long as you stick with a reputable designer, supplier, distributor or whatever they are calling themselves these days. I hate to say it, but American made is not always better anymore. The actual LEDs may be a bit better, but you need to take into consideration the actual cost. Higher material costs, labor costs, insurance, overhead etc.. You would most likely get a little little bit better of a light, for a whole bunch more $, not worth it right now IMO

I have Penetrators, Advanced LEDs, and Magnums,(Chinese MFG) ALL have been good quality lights. I learned the hard way and bought a UFO off ebay when I first started checking out LEDs, and its now in a drawer collecting dust, it should probably be in the trash!! There is a lot of Chinese crap out there, but there are also a lot of good Chinese products as well.

p.s. The Magnum Plus is exactly the same size as the 357 Magnum, but with twice the diodes, its easy to tell the difference when they are in front of you.
