Magnesium and Ph question; also, anyone use talc?

I have a plant that has been going for about 5 weeks, had some stunting early on due to a poor soil choice, but as soon as I changed to FFOF it perked up and has been going well for 3 weeks...I missed a FIM (pretty much just mangled some leaves before they had developed...didn't know you could miss on a procedure developed around missing, but whatever) and topped it, so there has been some additional stress. Needless to say I'm a first time grower.

So I've got what appear to be clearcut signs of Magnesium deficiency. I'm using tap water that's been left out to have the chlorine evaporate, and I've been pH balancing the water to around 6.6. Last watering or two might have gone a bit lower, around 6.2.

The biggest question I have is whether my Mag deficiency is more likely to be due to incorrect pH (or even lockout? I've transplanted enough that I haven't done much flushing, but have only used supplemental nutrients on it twice (AN micro-grow-bloom line)), or due to an actual deficiency of Magnesium in the soil. I know Magnesium is one of the more base-loving nutrients for our plant, so I'm not sure if I should throw some more Magnesium in or just do a heavy watering with higher pH (maybe 6.8 or so, to offset the relative low-pH of FFOF?)

And finally, does anyone know whether (industrial) talc is alright to use as a source of Magnesium? I think there is some aluminium oxide and a bit of sodium oxide in it; i think the al2o3 is safe, but does the na2o mean its unsafe? pretty small amounts, but its still there; its mostly silicon dioxide (SiO2) magnesium oxide (MgO) and a bit of calcium oxide (CaO).

Hope this wasn't too much for one thread. Any help on any of the subqueries would be great as well.

U need to add mag when using FFOF. It doesnt have much, if any, not sure to be exact. Go grab a bottle of cal-mag and you will be golden

Can I use epsom salt instead, mixing it with water and watering with the mix? I'd prefer not to do any foliar feeding, since I'm still fairly new to growing and it seems to be a science of its own. I also have some powdered industrial talc and some industrial dolomite (raw limestone, about 60/40 CaO/MgO)..., not sure if that's safe for agriculture.

Epsom salt is the way to go, only a pinch per 2l of water always does my girls right 3 weeks into flower. Gud Luck.
