Here's an interesting email I got from Lumigrow. I don't think the numbers they're talking about make it worth it, but at least Lumigrow is trying to differentiate itself and build brand loyalty. Maybe if they tried lowering their prices that would help too .
[h=2]LumiGrow Rolls Out Buy Back Program to Enable Growers to Future Proof Their LED Lighting Investment[/h] Novato, CA, June 5, 2012 LumiGrow, Inc. (www.lumigrow.com), the market and technology leader in smart horticultural lighting, today announced the industrys first ever Equipment Buy Back program to help commercial growers embrace LED lighting technology with greater confidence. The new program is intended for growers who prefer to remain at the cutting edge of lighting technology.
Starting this month, growers have the option to participate in the Equipment Buy Back program for a 10 percent premium over their LumiGrow solution purchase price. Growers may choose to upgrade their lighting systems anytime between 24 and 84 months following the purchase date.
Growers know upfront exactly what their lights in good condition will be worth when theyre ready to upgrade. A credit of as much as 35 percent of the original purchase price, based on a published schedule of ownership duration, will be automatically applied toward the growers next LumiGrow lighting purchase.
We call this program future-proofing because our customers now gain more confidence that theyre buying into LED technology at exactly the right time, said LumiGrow CEO Kevin Wells. He added, Theres no longer any reason for a grower to remain on the fence.
LumiGrow will resell retrofit fixtures through both direct and retail channel sales. Any fixtures that cannot be resold will be responsibly recycled. RoHS-compliant LumiGrow products are mercury-free and 90 percent recyclable, unlike conventional lighting fixtures which must be treated as hazardous waste.
