Low watt HID's?

I have a question about low watt HID's

is it okay to run them from a regular socket with no ballast? i know the sockets I got (using CFLS atm) are approved for bulbs up to 250W soooo can i just stick a 150w HPS in there? or is that the kindda mistake that would burn my house down....

no you need a ballast to run it .. not a good idea at all

no, in fact doing that is impossible, the bulb wont work.
