Long Veg.....Calls for some changes

I have to veg longer because my lamp wanted to go home to sun systems and have work done on her. ANYWAYS not much i can do about it.... MY QUEST from day one was provide the best environment for my plants. Well i started off with 10 then my bulb went out so thanks to my trusty areogarden i now have 2. Well i got a new bulb real quick and had them under 1000 mh....for about 32 hrs then my lamp went out. Now i am waiting for the shipment and in the mean time i am using cfl. i am happy with them but they are not very strong. One is female the other is a hopeful. MY QUESTION: How big of a plant (or two) can one 1000 watt hps light handle? What are the obstacles i might be heading towards? I am not worried about the hight of the plant more or less worried about penetration. My quest is to max out every bud site on two plants. Thanks to any and all who have knowledge on the subject and share it

two plants the hps shoule be plenty imo

I fig it would be plenty. My question is more along the lines how do i make it Not plenty? I really want to push the limits of these plants and i was wondering how big to veg them and what difficulties i would encounter with light penetration. Thank you for your reply
