There really is not any mystery to this. It is really not a technique, as just a guidline of how to prune. This is actually a quite natural method. Prune what does not matter and let the plant focus on the flowers. The real key to this is to get red of all the shit on the bottom, but no too often, or the plant is perpetually spending energy on healing. Just prune everying on the botton once a week or so in flowering.
