Little Help Understanding Topping?

Hi at the mo i have 3 critical mass 1 swiss cheese 1 short ryder (went wrong) and 2 ak 48s oh and a cheeky tangerine dream on the go! i was looking to top my ak 48s how is this and what node do i cut from? what are the risks also? some of my plants ae already prettty big and near flowering stage but ive only just started my tangerine and ak 48 so i wanna try out toppin for the first time, read alot about it and how it can increase yields etc plus i find it quite cool how they branch different!

you can read uncle bens thread in advanced mar cultivation,its a sticky at the top of the page. thats the most efficient way to do it. i top my plants to be flat across the top so i can keep my lights closer and i top alot,from 3 weeks to a few days before flower.as long as you have a clean pair of snips it wont hurt a thing.you should read the first page of that thread though. gl

Some people think that topping increases yeild. That's only true for some strains, and depends on how much room you have and how long you plan to veg them all. For most people, topping is used as a way to control the height of a plant. Also, some people top early in veg to achieve a certain amount of colas i.e. Uncle Ben's thread (which I highly (pun intended) recommend you read) It will really help you to understand why you might wanna top your plant;

That thread is amazing! im a little confused about the "true nodes" though. im a pretty simple grower but i wanna get into more advanced stuff Ub's thread is alot of help! just need to know about those true nodes haha thanks
