little help improving...

Ok, Hello All, first time grower, long time smoker here. Ive been perusing through the forum for a few days now, since some little seedlings sprouted in my asparagus fern... (!) I do NOT want to just let them die, Id like to help them grow nice and flower...heres a little more info...

5 plants in total, average height around 2"

average - poor soil (from the asparagus fern plant has little white balls in it..?

lighting right now consists of... 1- 42 watt floro, 2 tube floros only 20 and 17
equals 79 watts

fan blowing air on them most of the day

straws cut and place as suggested on another post

the babies are fairly stretched

they are in a closet *should I make all the walls white?? they are wood colored now...

i water them about every 3 days or when the soil is really dry

hmmm... what else? the lights on about 16-20 hours a day

just looking to grow a little good bud, since Mother Nature sprouted those seedlings for me...

any suggestions? i am going to go the cheap route and get some stuff at walmart and maybe a hardware store. dont want to spend more than about 150-200 bucks, including soil and fertilizer... gonna get suggestions about from here and the other forums before purchasing...

watching a video, i learned that the little "white balls" are perlite...

whoever said u couldnt learn stoned were wrong...

welcome to the forum. Did u also learn why the perlite is there or is that another story.lol

Ooooooooooooo nice I will start my grow extremly soon I hope! I am gonna be using agrow box..... oh and wither paint the area surrounding the plants white of place something to reflect the lights.... tin foil but not aliminum tin foil (however you spell it) I suppose would be good....

So you got yourself 5 lil babies, totally cool! Everyone is going to have (different) advice for you, try to sift thru what suits you the best.

Having said that, here is my 2 cents worth, you stated a budget of upto $200.00 (I love having a budget):

(1)This costs you $119.00 and will help you get the best buds from your grow.
This also has the enhanced bulb, so you can do the entire grow under this one bulb. It's the same bulb I use, check out my grow journal.

After that I would pick up some of this:

Than I would get this:

(3)Now this one is kinda pricey, and foxfarm has a cheaper substitute, but this is MY opinion. lol Its $63.00

That puts us at $190.00 roughly, take the remaining $10.00, and go get some soil at homedepot.

If you did all this, and nothing else, not even the paint you mentioned, you would still do pretty damn good.

(4)If you wanted to shave $35.00 off the cost you could go this route, and still get some damn nice buds:
