Right using 200w CFL atm wanting to switch to hps but heat may be an issue was thinking of 150 hps grow space 80x80x180 was thinkin of putting a carbon filter in for smell so could also vent the heat out couple of fans what would yous say.

If Heat is a problem, you could use the bulb together with a led light.
150w hps will not give you much more light then the 200w CFL,
Go for a adjustable digital ballast, dimable between 250 and 400 watt.

You always have the ability to dial the lights down, as Rifman said. Check out some of these grow room designs that Monster Gardens made. They never seize to amaze me with their wealth of knowledge in their videos, but this one takes the cake. This is the most info in a "grow room design" video. Hope this helps! -Cheif
