Sure, just about any light will work for a cutting/small plant but if your asking can you grow from start to finish with that I would have to say it wouldnt be worth the wait.

well im just using this until i get a better set up i just have that and 2 cfls on it right now and i want to add that onto it so i would have that and some cfls on all the time

BEWARE of using random fixtures, that may be a fish tank or reptile light, mostly uva and uvb will bur the crap out of plants, read the bulb and tell us what is says.

Personally, I would rather use the twisty kind of CFL bulb. Those tube lights are just a few watts per square inch. The CFLs are at least concentrating all the wattage and energy into an area that your younger plants can use. Most of the light from that tube will be wasted.

I've tried to grow with tube lighting. T5 HO is great stuff, everything else is pretty mediocre.

well tonight i went down to lowes to get something that could hold like 5 clfs on one little setup thing but they told me they didnt have that and that i needed to buy a fixture so i just bought that little 15 watt thing. can someone like post a picture of something with clfs that i can buy at lowes or home depot so i will know what to look for and ask for when i go?

Dont forget to buy an extension cord, cut the end off and hard wire it.

They have a chrome one too. I get those and turn the plate backwards and it makes a reflector. Use the 23 watt cfls.
