the best type of lighting to use is HPS (high pressure sodium) for flowering. They produce a orangish-red spectrum. You can get a good HPS lamp from HTGSupply.com, i got my 250watt for only $99

or if you are on a low budget you can get warm CFL bulbs, but the results aren't as good

I've used CFLs for flowering, while I wouldn't recommend it for commercial growing, It does the job just fine for a personal stash. Just remember the strengths of CFLs keep them close to the plant (at the very least within 6 inches) and total coverage (you want a light targeting every section of the plant)
