im gonna get a little set up soon maybe for 1 or 2 plants at a time,
what light would be better for flowering
3 x 125watt cfls
or 1 x 250watt hps,
i will be growing a fairly small area so heat would be an issue
appreciate the help,

how much heat does a 400w put out?

it gives out enough to heat up a small area fast. If you went with the HPS you would have to get an air coolable reflector. When used with a duct fan, pulls out the hot air from the lamp immedeatly.
If you were growing in a closet where you could leave the door open for plenty of air circulation, just pointing a fan at the light to move the hot air, would probably do the trick.
Most people on this site will recomend using HID lights such as HPS lights, because they are serious growers and want maximum yields. Make sure your level of seriousness is a factor in your personal decision. CFL's could work just fine as well.
