Growing for the first time in 4 x 4 x 2 DIY grow tent w/carbon filter exhaust system, humidifier, 2 clip fans, thermostat/humidity realder, camera, and heater (if necessary. Temp has been a consistent 81F, but the best I've achieved humidity-wise is 30%. I'm growing (or attempting, lol) an indica strain, who I hear like it a bit on the colder side of the range (75-85F), so it's been a pretty consistent 81F.
After a number of false starts, I finally got a sprout (I'm trying to look at it as a learning experience rather than a waste (the seed co also guaranteed their seeds to germinate, so they're sending me an additional 5) which sprouted out the dirt a solid 24 hrs after planting in Happy Frog in a 16oz Solo cup w/holes in the bottom for drainage. I'm reading here that folks like to use Happy Frog for seedlings and then Ocean Forest once it's time for transplanting to the bigger pot. (in my case it is a 5 gal bucket w/holes drilled in the bottom for drainage). Unfortunately, I've got like 4 bags of Happy Frog RN, so I need to know if I can continue with what I've got without too much worry about it. Anyway, I've got 1 seed that doesn't seem to be doing much of anything, although it's sister has planted and sprouted already, and I'm debating whether whether I should give it a last ditch effort and plant it or toss it out. I've looked at the seed closely under a magnifying glass but can't tell whether that's a taproot that aligned itself to the side of the seed or I've been smoking too much bud, lol, and it's nothing but my imagination. The sprout is tiny though, on her sister plant under the grow light. I have her on an 18/6 light schedule RN and keep the soil moist, not wet. I had a humidifier going, but as mentioned earlier, the best I was able to achieve in the tent was 30%, so I covered the red solo cup my seedling is housed in with a plastic bag secured with a rubber band (while planning to'remove them during the 6hr dark period). I'm reading the posts here and want to confirm whether I should lower the light to a few inches over the seedling or further away? Should the light be on at all? I looked up the Word "sprout," which seems to be a bit bigger than what I've got going on RN, but hopefully will grow into, so I'm not sure what's required at this point. I have 2 Mars Hydro TS600s, but only one of them is on RN bc there's just one cup in there, so it's not needed. How far down should my light be from the top of the cup or is the light not needed yet? It seems to me that light would be necessary for growth, but wtf do I know?
