Lighting Question

I'm in an 8ft tall, 4 ft wide, 2.5 ft deep wooden box. I'm using a 1000 w HPS. I have 7 plants going underneath it. The light is 5.5-6 ft away from the plants, should I lower it? My prior reasoning was that the light is powerful enough for the enclosed space. Any help would be much appreciated.

Are you using a cool tube, or something ? I'm intrested in see your 1000w hps in that small box, my 4w 3d 6h box runs a 430hps atm.

No cool tube, just a direct intake from the AC and 465 cfm squirrel cage fan. The temp has been right around 75-80 on the floor, 85-87 at the midway point and low 90's right around the light. The reflector has not gotten too hot to this point.
