Lighting question

Ok so im new to growing and up till now i just been using cfl's but i recently just got a hps bulb and i have no idea how to setup a hps light system so can anyone help me out and tell me what i need to get it going. like what other equipment will i need? any help will be greatly appreciated

The main thing is a ballast. You can't just screw a bulb in a socket and run it. You need a ballast capable of running it and it has to match the wattage of your bulb or vise versa. Most would buy the bulb to match the light ballast/fixture. I would suggest a hps/mh switchable digital ballast that way you can veg with a MH and flower with a HPS. You also need a light fixture. This would be a reflector, and there are several different kinds. There's a plain old cheap reflector with a socket installed, a "wing" type reflector, a reflector that is more of a "box" , and the same thing with fittings to allow you to run a fan or ducting to channel air through the unit for cooling. There are units that have the ballast built in. It really depends on your budget and how you want to set up your room. You'll need some adjustable hangers to raise the lights with plant growth. Do some reading in the grow room set up sections. Lots of veterans with some great info that will help you with planning your set up. Look here
