Lighting Question

Hi all,

Im looking at upgrading to a 600w HPS but just found self-igniting (No ballast required) 70W HPS bulbs.

So im wondering if it is better to buy 8 or 9 70watt globes so i can get a good spread of light around my grow or is the 600watt better.

I like the idea of less heat coming from the 70w allowing me to be able to put them closer to the plants

its an HID lamp either way small or not theyre gonna generate a considerable ammount of heat and you will need reflectors for your 7-8 small HPS which will cost you more money and waste more light than a single 600 watt hps system this is just my opinion though

+1 on that, and where did you find HPS bulbs that don't require a Ballast? sounds a little fishy to me, i'd be careful with that considering what it takes for a normal HPS to fire itself up. just me though

Definitley get the 600 over several 70's.

600 watt hps = 80,000 lumens
70 watt hps = 6,300 lumens
600 watts worth of 70 watt hps lights = 54,000 lumens

Your losing 26,000 lumens dawg.
