Lighting Question which bulbs

Hi

Is there much difference in using a red bulb during flowering?

I have dual bulbs with blue and red which I use from start to finish (veg/flower)

But I see a couple of people that use blue for veg then switch to red for flower
Does this give much of a difference in terms of yeild?
Thanks

Yes! It depends if you want soft airy buds or fat hard donkey dick buds?

If you want donkey dick buds like these, then you need HPS! IMG_20160213_210600.jpg IMG_20160213_210609.jpg

So what are the dual bulb ones for?

As I've used them from start to finish and average 3oz a plant

Is there a big difference in using red for flower ?

Dual bulbs have HPS and MH in them. They give a better spectrum but it depends how many plants you have under them. Smaller number of Plants with huge pots.. You'll pull good weight but just normal sunblaster hps would do a great job because its a single ark tube inside a glass bulb not two.

Plus if you can use the bare bulb don't use a glass reflectors unless your using 1000w hps's inside a closed space..

But the heat from a 400w hps is enough to warm up a room so you got to think about it the heat that comes with hps.

Thank you for your reply

Yeah I know what you mean about the heat with the pure red bulbs

Think I'll try the red bulbs and put them higher than normal.

I'm using 4 lights so I'll change one bulb at a time and look at the temps as I change the bulbs

That's it as long as you keep it high enough but not too high you'll pull good weight and quality.

make sure you don't duct into your attic or anything with 4 lights! that'll glow like an xmas tree...

I plan on doing 25 plants so 4 lights shouldn't really grow them that high as they will all be fighting for the light.
Them dual bulbs are a bit crap mate

Your better off using 1 mh for every 3 to 6 hps lamps, that`s in flower and that`s if your super fussy about getting more amber/cloudy in your buds as the extra blues in mh gives more yellow but normally you can yield more with hps lamps, there cheaper and normally don`t blow as easy as MH lamps do

I think CMH`s are better than normal MH or them dual bulbs

but in the future more and more will make the switch to LEP, LED and induction lamps, hps is great on a budget but its starting to become outdated still think they`ll be around for the next 10 to 30 years but pretty soon most people will be using leds I think

Think it's looking like I'll get 4 blue lights for veg then swap them to 4 red lights for flower.

Are the mh blue lights more cold? So can the plants handle them a lot better during veg?
In terms of heat and closeness

yeah your right CMH has such fat better spectrum than any other light, or led unless spectrum king and i think their fucking shit and a waste of money for that price.

CMH cost a lot though so forking out 400 blips on a lamp is way too much unless your growing to sell and i think you'd need 3 Lec's to replace a 1000w, but i heard lecs have little heat don't know if this is true or not

You can get away with using 2 MH's for veg and no MH bulbs put out the same amount of heat as HPS.

My tent gets real war when i run 2 400w mh bare bulbs..

If you use hoods or cooltubes it'll be fine but if you go bare bulb you need a large intake or a nice air con....

Using a room not a tent so there is way more room so the heat can fill the room up

I find a tent gets really hot quick but a full room stays nice and cool even when using 4 lights.
Say cool it's 26C on 4 dual
I'll be using 4 hps so I'll get a few fans by the lights
I just use hoods so it's bare bulb

Nice that's sweet if you have a full room you can do anything you like..

It does make it easier with the heat and the space you have

I've just ordered some omega mh bulbs and some sunmaster hps bulbs too hopefully I'll get a few more Oz of bud on this one now then.

Thanks for your help mate
