Lighting and Sexing Questions

Hello everyone. Just looking for some quick answers to some simple questions.

ok so first off. Lighting schedule: When should I switch my lighting schedule from 24hours to 16-8? Also if my power goes out for like 30min will that stress my plants if they have all light taken away from them? can any serious side effects happen. Or could it be series enough to cause a hermaphrodite plant?

also when will they show pollen pustules and pistols ?

based on those questions you should definitely read more.

the question of when to switch from 24 to 18/6 for example. while some people do gradually reduce their light time until flower time, most people do not start out at 24 hours and then go down to 18/6, it's usually one or the other or somewhere in between. both 24 hours and 18/6 are veg cycles. perhaps you meant when to switch the lights to 12/12? if that's the case it's completely up to you based on whatever criteria you want to use.

about the power outage thing, it happens and sometimes plants get stressed out. if it happens frequently it's going to be a bigger problem than if it's a once in a while thing. i've had an entire 12 hour outage during the flower cycle and didn't have any problems from it. some people are not so lucky. that's one of those things that you want to avoid but if it happens there's nothing you can do but move on.

they show sex when they are ready. some plants show preflowers at only 3 weeks old under a veg cycle, others don't show preflowers during veg at all. some plants take a few weeks of a bloom cycle to even hint at their sex.

you really do need to read more before you begin, though. these simple questions are things that should be answered by even the most basic of research. research during which you will learn all sorts of things that are essential to understand before you begin. there are things that might not occur to you to ask about, so reading anything and everything on the subject will prepare you well.

If you don't become hooked when you start reading and find youself staying up till 3am looking for that DIY flux capacitor ...at least do yourself a favour and check out some serious grow videos like jorge cervantes, you know where to look.

And keep it simple, school kids grow green beans with nothing but a cup of dirt a seed and a window....

Cheers,
