I just bought a Secret Jardin DR100L and I wanted to do 4-6 plants in it. I have 6 OG Kush sprouted and am well on my way with my veg. I am all set with my veg lights but I was needing some suggestions on a HPS system.... I was thinking a 400watt would do the trick or should I go 600?? Know any good sites where I could get one for around $200? and any suggestions on ventilation would be awesome. I am a newbie and need some help from the pros.......

Thanks all reps to good advice

Will be posting pics and starting a grow journal if anyone kinda wants to follow me grow and help me on the way let me know and I will start journal for sure.......

I have a DR100 and a 400W HPS, I do wish id brought a 600W HPS now althou that may change in summer,

I use a 5"/125MM Ruck extraction fan and temps sit at 23-25C on a normal day.

I would say go for the 600W and at least a 5" extraction, but preferably a 6"/150mm extraction if you go with 600W.

Congrats on ur purchase mate, Excellent tent.

They sell good 100 w 2700k CFL's now that are supposed to be the equivalent of a 400w HPS without the heat. My hydro store sells the complete kit for $77. 3 x $77 = $231. $231 for an equivalent of 1200 w HPS minus the power bill and the need for cool tubes or large amounts of ventilation. I use a 400w HPS, 400w MH, 7 x 26w 2700k CFL spirals and 2 x 36w 2700k CFL tubes for a 4' x 4' grow area with 8 plants.

Dont get CFLs. I used 100W 2700K CFLs for a while, and alhough they are good, they dont penetrate nearly as well as a 400W HPS. I moved a plant that had two 100W cfls on it to an area that had a 400w HPS and its buds got real thick quick. I got mine from Inside Sun for $90.

I think that I am convinced I am going to go with the 600watt.

I do have another question though. I understand about the intake out take fans Im going to go with a 6" 150mm.

Will I need a cooltube for this or how can I cool this down?? Will I even need to. I will be growing 5-6 plants at a time.

I guess it depends on the ambient temps outside the room. I would say yeah, but I've never grown in a tent. You would be able to get the light closer with a cool tube, and they are easy and cheap to make. I made one easy with a pyrex bake-a-round. For my grow I just ordered a 6" 500cfm fan just for my cool tube, and I'm only running 400w. Even in a basement my system needs a cool tube with a good fan in order to cool my cab below the 90s.
