I grow outdoors in Maine. This coming up season I was planning on getting a jumpstart and start from seed and also clones under some lights. I plan on planting Feb 1st and growing indoors until roughly mid April. Which lights do you recommend that are adjustable and not running the electric bill up... Oh.. I'm just an average guy so I have limited funds.. what should I look into

HLG is a good company. They have efficient lights for a variety of spaces.

AC Infinity is good. They have great customer service.

ViparSpectra XS1500 has been a good performer for me.

You can go to YouTube and check out a channel called MIGRO. The host independently reviews a bunch of different lights and gives the results.

What size is the area you're going to prepare the seeds in?
Is it cold/warm in the location (led requires additional heat)

There's suitable cfl and hid around $30 that'll give you heat and light or much as you want to spend on led, there's lots of factors to consider.
