light problem!! too bright

I have a problem, light filters through the cracks in my closet door, and its pretty damn bright. It shines right on to my bed, plus it gives off a green glow that can be seen from my window at night. This is an MH bulb. My question is, what kind of material could I hang that would block all light from filtering through it? I tried hanging a tarp but it's still super bright. Would an HPS bulb's light not be so strong considering it's more reddish?

get some mylar sheeting, white on one side, black on the other, hang that inside door, it should stop light leaks.

You can get mylar or panda film at Hydro ponics store.


Panda film is black and white.

Mylar is silver.

i just read a forum that said aluminum foil works real well. i put a piece up and its bomb! but are there any hazards associated with it? Im still in a kind of paranoid phase, just got my light today and im determined that my house is going to burn down from an electrical problem or something getting lit up

what i did to stop light leaks in my closet was just hang a big ass sheet up and fold it into the dracks. worked pertty good for me. lol.

The foil will create hot spots on the plant possibly burning it just go to lowes home depot or even fred meyer and pick up some panda film in the paint section,, you'll be much happier I went to the dollar stor and bought shower curtain rings and a black shower curtain lined it with panda film and nailed it up on the inside of the door (inside is best as the fan insed will keep the edges pushed against the wall keeping more light in

dude just tape cardboard up and cover those louvers up, bring the cardboard down even to the floor and tape it up good..........dont use alum foil !! or just hang a piece of black plastic up.... (cheap) hang it up inside the louvered doors just a thought..

A friend of mine had same prob with louvred doors, we just lined the inside of the doors with thin mdf. made odour control less of an issue too, cos on top of the light leakage, the smell was a problem, and with all those open louvres on your doors i can see it becoming an issue for you too.
