Light interruption?

me and my buddy are growing a couple of plants. and started to research alot on line. we set up our veg chamber in a 3 ft by 2ft by 1.5ft tv cabinet. the plants are about a week and a half old. my buddy read online that 16hrs with a 1hr interruption will produce more females.

has anyone tried this and will this have any negative side effects when it comes to the growth?

I have read around about this, and it seems that the suggested time would be in the range of 18 hours light, and 6 hours total dark. Then 12 light, and 12 dark for flowering.

A few people advocate 24/7 light during veg, but apparently when the plant gets proper darkness the roots are healthier. There are chemical reactions that need total darkness to take place.

Bongman is right. 18/6 for vegging and 12/12 for flowering.
