Light height

Quick question? Why in all commercial grow rooms I noticed the lights are high up like ceiling height? Yet all I’ve read learned been told is to keep lights as close to plants as possible?

its the angle they take the photo from, it just makes it look like the lights are on the celing. i know, it confused the hell out of me when i first noticed that

they raise the lights to enhance the lit area, for the benefit of the photo, as you say they are commercial

Idk de 1000 w fixtures are spaced and raised different than more hobbyist single ended bulb style fixtures.

Typically they are much high and cover the whole larger canopy with sufficient light at a much higher level. They are much more intense snd most commercial outfits are running them at 1150 watts. It’s common to see lights 3-4 ft above the canopy. Also depends on what coverage, whether 4sq or 5sq per fixture.
