Been using it for about 6 weeks in flowering, everything worked perfect for a while. i tried turning off and on, nothing, from those pics it looks like something happened to the bulb. what - is the question, and being broke i don't know how im going to afford one but at this point i must find a way.

CFL's setup for emergency light, and extra bulbs on hand from now on! F!

This really sucks. I've had to deal with enough damn tragedies with my girls, and now, when i need it the most, this had to happen. the cfl's just wont do it. my buds are just fluffling up and pistlls are just turning, and this had to happen. ROAR. I'm so bitter right now.

I don't know anyone that grows, that lives anywhere near me, i hung up 3 42 watt cfl's over the canopy, and my old floro tube. I'm going to try to find a way to get a new bulb today, chances are slim.

russ is that a htg supply 400 w bulb it looks generic and i have had those bulbs fail after 3 days of use. upon upgrading to a brand name i have had 7 months trouble free operation, your bulb is toast

What in particular indicates that the bulb is toast? The fuzzy stuff on the end or the orange glazing on the bulb near the base? Or something else?

yikes.. sorry RUSS!!

was your bulb clean.. did you wipe it down with alcohol before turning it on?
Was your bulb either Vertical or Horizontal?

I have read that bulbs that are not perfectly clean and perfectly Horizontal or vertical... can burn out in NO TIME...

I have no witnessed this personally...

Keep the CFLS very close to your plants.. and get as many as you can.. they do can make GREAT buds!

Yes is was an HTG supply bulb. spectrum enhanced(more blue), 10% brither (55,000 lumen). Yes knowm it was clean, i think that maybe a few drops of water hit it, and i didnt notice anything by the time i left the room. Picking a bulb up tonight, thankfully they only had to suffer 1 day on about 500 lumens per sqf

oh yes, and the bulb was horizontal, i mean not a perfectly straight line, but as close as possible

Yes.. my ladies only had to deal with one day of low light, i have aqcuired a home depot 400w hps bulb, made for the ballast i have (s51). Will wake the ladies up happy with this, i will keep this as my backup when i get a better horticulture type hps bulb.

Glad to hear things are looking bright again russ'. But you know, hid bulbs are designed to last for 2 years, with the bulb losing efficiency by half after about a year. Which is why you're supposed to change your bulbs once a year. All I can think of is that they sent you a dodgy bulb, maybe it had been dropped or something. Either way, I think you have a case for getting your money back.

yes i have had 3 bulbs fail from htg get a good bulb and use htg bulbs as spares. the freebee bulbs are not that great. he will swap out your bulb but repetive downtim will kill your growth spurts
