Light and stuff?

My plant have started to get very bushy and I was wondering if it would help any if I put a regular desk lamp, you know the flat long ones one whit the adjustable arm thing, very close shining in to the plant from the side?

I also wonder what a mirror would do? I read I should not use a mirror because of heat spots or whatever that is. Is it really bad? Even if I put the mirror as far away from the plants as the HPS lamp? My logic says that would be ok, but I don't have any experience so.

A mirror absorbs alot of the light energy. Putting a white board or piece of plastic will reflect 90% of the light. You can even paint it a flat white.

I dont know enough about the lights to add anything.

You must first investigate that desk lamp to see what kind of bulb it is, but honestly if you have an HID that desk light probably won't do anything for the plant at all. It is more than likely very weak. I couldn't have put the mirror thing any better than NLXSK1.

OK, thanks a lot. I'll just trow away the desk lamp and mirror and see if I can find some big white paper instead, think I have something like that around somewhere.

I heard something about using a green light bulb if I want to work while they are inn the dark, is that "safe"? And is it only green or would say blue work?

Sorry about all the questions, I just have to try and figure out fact from fiction here. Not as easy as it sounds on the internet.

As far as I know dark periods are supposed to be totally dark - no light at all.
